Letters from My Daycare #2

Mommy has been collecting the report cards from my daycare and here are some more letters the staff wrote to mommy and daddy.

March 14th, 2011-
Sophia is really getting around. She is thriving in spite of the congestion!

March 16th, 2011-
Sophia has been waving hi and bye!

March 17th, 2011-
Sophia got to play outside for a little bit. She would not touch the grass though. She would crawl to the edge of the blanket and just sit there, then crawl to the other side.

March 18th, 2011-
Happy 10 months to Sophia tomorrow! Sophia played outside in the sun today. She enjoyed the experience and getting some vitamin D.

March 22, 2011-
Sophia crawled over to the door when I was coming in and blocked it. Then she started doing pat a cake. It was really cute. She is also chewing on her bottle more than sucking on it.

March 23rd, 2011-
Sophia loves to have music playing and she will dance to it. It is so cute! Sophia is such a fun little girl!

March 30th, 2011-
Sophia played peek a boo/ hide and seek today. If we did not call out "where is Sophia" she would pop up and look at us and remind us to call out for her.

March 31st, 2011-
Today Sophia got to play outside. When it was time to come in she started crying.

April 4th, 2011-
Sophia was over by the window, listening to the kids outside playing and yelled Okay.

Totally Tubular!

Today I had a Bilateral myringotomy and tubes put in my ears. A Bilateral myringotomy and tubes is a surgery in which a small opening is made in each eardrum and a small tube is placed in the opening on each side.

My day started at 7:15 AM at the American Fork Hospital. I got to the hospital and my parents checked me in. As soon as I went back to the pre-op room my friend Kyle came to visit me. Kyle is my neighbor and was my anesthesiologist. I really like him and my parents were happy he could be there for my surgery.

My parents dressed me in this child hospital gown and I couldn't stop playing with the tag on my ankle as you can see from the picture below. Mommy was afraid I would cry all morning because I couldn't have anything to eat after 12:00 AM, but I did really well before my surgery and didn't even cry. They carried me off to the operating room at 8:15 AM and I was back in the room at 8:30. Dr. Heras said the surgery only takes 6 minutes.

After my surgery it was a different story. I cried the whole way home in the car. I cried when I burped. I cried when I'd try to stand up and then immediately fell down. I couldn't stop crying. By the end of the night I was doing better, but it was a long day. I had my moments of happiness today, but for the most part I wasn't myself. Hopefully these tubes help me so I don't have chronic ear infections.

Letters from My Daycare

This is a little background on why I had to switch daycare's:

I started going to a new daycare on February 1st, 2011. I had to switch daycare's because my current babysitter was pregnant with twins and she gave mommy a two week notice. Mommy and daddy were really worried they wouldn't be able to find a daycare in two weeks, but they got very lucky! They found a really nice daycare the next day, called Bright Beginnings.

Now onto the letters...

Bright Beginnings gives my parents a report card every day. It is a detailed report of what I ate and when, when they changed my diaper, and when I took a nap. There is also a section for notes. They don't always write my parents a letter, but here are a few letters they written to my parents.

February 2nd, 2011-
Dear Kristin and Jeff, Sophia did so well yesterday. She is a very wonderful eight month old!! We are glad she has come to our care center.

1. She is social- only cries when hurt or afraid.
2. She is doing well with language- babbles and says some words to communicate.
3. She is very active and is discovering her world at a very rapid rate.
4. Her development is typical and motor skills are right on target.

February 16th, 2011-
Little Sophia does well in spite of her not feeling well. Today she said, "mama-mama" and "bye-bye". She pulled herself up to the crib. She continues to do well in her development.

February 25th, 2011-
Today Sophia was the only infant. She received the best one on one care. She is a good eater, sleeper, and crawler. I observed her at length and she is right on schedule with her development. There are four domains: 1-Social and Emotional Development, 2-Language Development and Communication, 3- Cognitive Development, 4- Physical and Motor Development.

March 1st, 2011-
Sophia tried to take a step without holding on to anything. She fell and has not wanted to try since.

March 4th, 2011-
Sophia has almost turned into a toddler. She is a great little girl!

My parents couldn't be happier that I go to Bright Beginnings! I love it too.

Tubes

I went to the ENT doctor today because I've had 6 ear infections in 6 months. Dr. Heras said that having that many ear infections is bad and she recommended to my parents that I have tubes put in my ears. I go in for surgery on Tuesday, March 8th. My neighbor is going to be my anesthesiologist. Mommy and daddy are glad he can be there with me because he is someone I'm familiar with.

I'm a Cruiser

It's almost been two weeks since I started standing up and now I'm even better at it. I can crawl over to a tall object and pull myself up. I started with the Laugh and Learn Kitchen, but now I can hold onto the sofa and pull myself up. I've also started to "cruise" which is holding onto something and walking. I can hold onto the sofa and walk from one side to the other. I'm all over the place now. I like to follow the dog and pull on his hair. I also like to go in the kitchen and open up the drawers. My favorite thing to do is crawl to the oven and open up the bottom drawer.

9 Month Portraits

Today I went to Photo Works and had my 9 month pictures taken. My parents think these are the best pictures so far. Katie, the photographer, said this was the fastest session she's had with me. We were done in 20 minutes. My parents couldn't stop smiling because I did such a good job.

My mom wanted to go for the antique look so she bought me this dress from BabyGap. She also bought the faux pearls. Photo Works had this super cute hat and it finished the look.

This picture is mommy's favorite. Photo Works even put this picture on their Facebook page because they thought I was so cute.

In this picture I'm wearing a shirt from Janie and Jack. My mom and dad got this shirt on sale. They refuse to buy anything from Janie and Jack unless it's on sale because the clothes are so expensive.

I'm wearing a shirt from BabyGap and I'm riding my Giraffe I got for Christmas from Grandma Stephanie and Grandpa Paul.

Daddy picked this outfit out at Macy's. He loves Puma and couldn't resist buying me this outfit. I'm posing with a Puma soccer ball. He wants me to play soccer someday.

9 Month Appointment

Today I had my 9 month appointment with Dr. Wilcox. This is the breakdown of my height, weight, and head circumference.

Height- 28 inches. I'm in the 64.82 percentile for length.
Weight- 22 pounds. I'm in the 92.04 percentile for weight.
Head Circumference- 17.75 inches. I'm in the 80 percentile for head circumference.

Dr. Wilcox said I'm growing well and I'm right on track. At my appointment he told me I have another ear infection. This is my sixth ear infection so I'm going to an ENT on Wednesday to have my ears looked at.

My Development at 9 Months

I am 9 months old today.

I...
  • can stand up.
  • love to play with my Laugh and Learn Kitchen.
  • have eaten just about every kind of baby food from peas to mangos.
  • explore food with my fingers.
  • have my two bottom teeth.
  • love to laugh.
  • have started to resist diapering and will try to roll off the changing table to get away.
  • can continuously repeat mama and dada. I've also said mom.
  • have been caught standing in my crib and biting on the railing.
  • wear size 4 diapers.
  • have tried to crawl up the stairs. I made it up one step and then gave up. Mommy and daddy need to put up a gate soon.
  • can walk with assistance.
  • can hold onto a chair or piece of furniture and walk back and forth while holding on.
  • still sleep in a HALO Sleepsack.

I Can Stand!

Today I decided it was time to take a stand. I crawled over to my Laugh and Learn Kitchen and stood up. I was so proud of myself that I started to smile and gave a shout out to mom. You can hear me say, "mama" and then "mom". I went from crawling to standing in one month so my mom thinks I'll be walking in another month. Who knows what I'll be doing two weeks from now.

Check it out...

I Can Crawl!

Hello world! I'm here to wreak havoc on you now that I can crawl. What can I get into? My parents better start baby proofing because I'm on the move and I'm not stopping. I really took off this weekend. For the past couple weeks I could crawl backward, but I just couldn't put it in first gear and crawl forward. That is over now!

Check it out :)
