Another Ear Infection

Mommy took me to the doctor on Friday and I have another ear infection. This is my 4th ear infection in 4 months. I'm taking Omnicef and one of the side effects is that my poop turns red. In the past I've taken Amoxicillin and Augmentin. Amoxicillin doesn't work for me and Augmentin gives me a really bad diaper rash. The last time I took Augmentin I got a diaper rash and it didn't go away for 3 weeks. Mommy tried everything!

Dr. Wilcox said that if I get 1 more ear infection within the next month I will have to get tubes in my ears. Mommy isn't worried about tubes because the benefits outweigh the risks. Ear infections are no fun!

BabyLegs

My mommy loves BabyLegs. She first saw them on the BabySteals website and she finally bought a pair. I started out with 2 pairs and then ended up with 11 more because she went crazy on black Friday.

Big Girl Bathtub

Mommy decided it was time to graduate to the big girl bathtub instead of the infant tub. I had a fun time playing with my bath toys, especially my garden bath book and rubber duckies.

6 Month Appointment

Today I had my 6 month appointment with Dr. Wilcox. This is the breakdown of my height, weight, and head circumference.

Height- 26 inches. I'm in the 62.56 percentile for length.
Weight- 19.25 pounds. I'm in the 95.83 percentile for weight.
Head Circumference- 16.75 inches. I'm in the 54.58 percentile for head circumference.

I had the following immunizations: DTaP (Diphtheria, Tetanus, and Pertussis), Hib (Haemophilus influenzae type b), Polio, Rotovirus, and Pneumococcal. The Rotovirus immunization was given to me through my mouth. The other immunizations were shots. The last time I went for shots they came in and stabbed me with two needles at once. Mommy didn't want that happening this time so she made them give me one shot at a time. The nurse was really quick and I didn't have any pain in my thigh for the rest of the day.

I Like Peas and Carrots

On October 30th I tried Beech-Nut Tender Sweet Peas for the first time. I made a funny face at first, but I kept going back for more. Since then I've eaten peas 5 times. Mommy switched me to Gerber NatureSelect 1st Foods because she is a big fan of Gerber products. I went from eating a 1/2 jar to a full jar of peas.

Today I tried carrots for the first time. I ate a whole jar of carrots my first time. They were so tasty and I wanted more after I finished what was there. Of course mommy didn't want to give me more and I had a bottle instead.

Family Photo

It's family photo time! We went on a drive today through Emigration Canyon and East Canyon. My parents were hoping to find a nice place in the Canyon to take a family picture, but they just couldn't find the right spot. In the end we decided to pose on our front doorstep. Do you like the way we match?

Daddy's Under My Spell

Daddy snapped this cute photo of me. He loves this outfit! Mommy bought the headband and clip from BabySteals.com. The item of the day was a hair bow set from The Hair Candy Store. The clip is a witch. Next year when I have longer hair the clip will look so cute.

My First Halloween

Today I went to a Halloween party at my mom's job. People kept telling me how cute I was in my ladybug costume. Mommy and Daddy were a plug and socket and they won $100 in the costume contest. The party was a bit long, but I had a fun time.

Rolling Over

Today I have mastered rolling over both ways. I started rolling from my back to my tummy on October 19th, but as soon as I rolled over I started crying. I've never been much of a tummy time baby. Rolling over is now my favorite thing to do. I love to lay on my floor mat and roll back and forth.

Watch What I Can Do

Last night I rolled over from my back to my tummy and mommy was able to snap some photos. I don't like being on my tummy so as soon as I rolled over I started to cry. Mommy put me back on my tummy and I rolled over again. She was so excited for me!

My 2nd Ear Infection

Mommy decided to take me to the doctor on October 15th because I was showing signs of possibly having another ear infection. Of course when the doctor looked at my ears my right ear was infected. He prescribed Augmentin which is stronger than Amoxicillin. Diarrhea is a side effect of Augmentin and boy did I have diarrhea big time. It resulted in the worst diaper rash I've had yet. Triple Paste has seemed to work on my diaper rashes before, but even that didn't help resolve my diaper rash. After using Desitin and Triple Paste for a couple weeks it finally went away. Let's hope I don't get anymore ear infections.

Milestone Met

I am 4 months old today! This afternoon I was laying in bed with mommy and daddy and I rolled over. Mommy put me on my stomach and after a minute I rolled on my side. After a couple more minutes I decided to give it a try and I rolled on my back. Mommy and daddy cheered for me and mommy put me on my stomach again to see if I would roll over, but it was a no go. One time was good enough for me.

I Love to Laugh

Last week at daycare I randomly started to laugh. Sylvia caught the last part of it on video. My mommy and daddy have heard me laugh before, but never like this. I love going to the daycare because I have a fun time with Sylvia and the other children.

I'm a Thumb Sucker

Three weeks ago I started sucking my thumb. I decided that my binkie wasn't good enough so I'd move on to my thumb. Mommy and daddy laughed at first and then said, "I hope she doesn't suck her thumb until she's 5." Mommy talked to some of her friends and they either have kids that are thumb suckers or when they were little they were thumb suckers. One of her friends sucked her thumb until she was 7 years old. I'm sure my mommy will put a stop to it at some point. The positive part of sucking my thumb is that I can soothe myself if I'm crying.

I started with the left thumb...

and then decided the right thumb tasted better.

Fun Times!

Tonight was my first night sitting in my stationary entertainer. Sylvia, my babysitter, has a Jumparoo entertainer and I've been using that at daycare. My neck muscles are stronger now and I can support my head so mommy and daddy decided to give my stationary entertainer a try. My mommy received this gift from her Aunt Pat, Uncle Frank, and cousins Stacie and Clay during her baby shower in Virginia.

I'm laughing at daddy in this picture. He is a horrible dancer (mommy told me so) and he makes me laugh when he does funny dances.

My stationary entertainer is Baby Einstein by Graco. Mommy and daddy registered for this and Babies R Us decided to discontinue it so they were happy that someone bought it before the store sold out.

Do you see me grasping the bottom of this sun? I can grab things and hold onto them tight.

I'm so interested in what mommy is holding in her hand. She is always pointing it in my face and it goes click click.

My 1st Ear Infection

This is a little background on my first ear infection.

I had previously seen the nurse practitioner on August 23rd. Mommy and daddy took me to the after care that night because I had a temperature of 102. The nurse practitioner inserted a catheter so they could test my urine. He told my parents to give me Tylenol and that was all they could do.

11 days later mommy took me to the doctor because I wasn't getting better. Dr. Wilcox looked in my ears and I had a double ear infection. He prescribed Amoxicillin and I got better. I had diarrhea while I took the Amoxicillin, but it wasn't bad enough to give me a diaper rash.

Coming Home

On Friday, May 21st, 2010 I came home from the hospital. Mommy and Daddy were happy to be taking me home, but they were going to miss the nurses who took care of me at night so they could sleep. Boy do I have sleepless nights in store for them!

My outfit is from Babies R Us. My parents thought it was going to be warm when I came home from the hospital, but a cold front moved through and it was only 70 degrees. They scrambled to find a onesie they could put under my dress. The headband that I am wearing was made by Think Pink Bowtique. My mommy works with the husband of the lady who makes these headbands. She happened to find a headband that matched perfectly with my dress.

Daddy loves me so much. He couldn't stop looking at me because he thought I was so beautiful.

Daddy gave mommy the necklace she is wearing before they left the hospital. It is a flower with my birthstone which is an Emerald.

Who first beholds the light of day
In spring's sweet, flower month of May
And wears an emerald all her life
Shall be a loved and a loving wife.

My First Photo Shoot

I was born at the Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah. The Women and Newborn Center at the Intermountain Medical Center has a contract with Bella Baby Photography. A really nice photographer came into my mommy's room and took pictures of me when I was 1 day old. I cooperated for 5 minutes and then proceeded to scream bloody murder.

Don't I look like an angel with the purple bow in my hair?

Mommy and Daddy loved my hands and feet because they were so tiny. My fingernails are a little long though.

My First Day In the World

I was born on May 19th, 2010. My mommy went into labor at around 1:30 AM on May 19th, but she thought it was nothing because her contractions weren't that painful. Dr. Gravelle told her weeks before my due date to take a warm shower and if the contractions didn't go away she should count how far they are apart from each other. They were about 5 minutes apart so they packed the car and left the house at 2:30 AM. They took their time driving to the hospital (Daddy will only go 5mph over the speed limit) and when they arrived she was checked into Labor and Delivery and monitored. Two hours later the doctor on call said she should go home because she wasn't dilating. I just wasn't ready to come out yet. Her 40 week doctors appointment was at 9:15 AM and by the time she got back to the hospital her contractions were 3 minutes apart and they were starting to become painful. Dr. Gravelle debated whether to admit her, but in the end called Labor and Delivery and she was admitted around 10:00 AM.

This is a picture of my mommy in her Labor and Delivery Room. Her gown is from B.Y.O.G- Bring your own gown. This is for hip mamas who don't want to wear an ugly, blue hospital gown. She found out about it through watching Tori and Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood. It's a popular thing for movie stars. Everyone kept commenting that she looked so cute (that was her motive behind it) and they wanted to know where she got it from. The doctor said, "Wow! I didn't know the hospital was giving out cute gowns like that." My mommy laughed and said, "I wanted to look cute so I bought it online."

Dr. Gravelle decided to give my mommy Pitocin to make her labor go faster, but she didn't want to take the Pitocin until she had an epidural. She read online and found out through friends that once you are given Pitocin your contractions start to hurt a lot! The anesthesiologist was very nice and the epidural didn't hurt at all. After taking birth classes she was scared because they only focused on the bad things that could happen if an epidural didn't go well. She didn't feel one contraction after that (she said Thank God!). Daddy kept saying, "Here comes one.", but mommy couldn't feel it at all. She doesn't have a high pain tolerance so this was a good thing. After 8 1/2 hours of labor and no complications I was born.

This is a picture of Dr. Gravelle and I after I was born.

Here are the exact details:

Name: Sophia Elizabeth Krotosky
Date and Time of Birth: May 19th, 2010 at 6:32 PM (I was born on my exact due date)
Weight: 7 lb 14 oz
Height: 20.5 in

Mommy and Daddy loved the name Sophia and it was their top choice. Elizabeth is my great great grandmothers name.

This is a picture of Daddy giving me my first bath later that night.

This is a picture of mommy holding me after my bath.

I slept in the nursery that night because mommy and daddy needed sleep. That is my first day and what a hectic and long day it was!

Stroller System

Gammie and Papi (mommy's parents) purchased the stroller. It is a Chicco KeyFit 30 Travel System in the Miro design. Mommy and daddy wanted a stroller system that was unisex so they could use it for a second baby.

My doggy brother, Diego, was curious as to what it was. He kept sniffing it. Sometimes he would walk in the nursery and take a look around and sniff the car seat again.

Sophia's Furniture

Jeff's parents helped us purchase the baby furniture and we absolutely love it! It was a pain to setup, but once it was all we could say was WOW. The dog didn't know what to think about it. Occasionally we'll hear him go in there and walk around. I wonder what he is thinking...lol??
